Handmade Pricing Calculator
Price handmade items from materials, labor and margin.
A pricing formula that keeps you profitable
Add up everything an item really costs — materials, your time, packaging and overhead — then multiply by a markup. The result is your price. This calculator then subtracts Etsy’s fees so you can see the profit you actually keep, not just the sticker price.
Frequently asked questions
How much should I mark up handmade items?
A common starting point is 2× your total cost (materials + labour + overhead), which is a 100% markup. Many sellers go higher for distinctive work. The calculator shows your real profit after Etsy’s fees at whatever markup you pick.
Should I pay myself for labour?
Yes. If you skip labour, you are working for free and will burn out or underprice. Put a realistic hourly rate on your time and include it in the cost before marking up.
